Federal Reg Number (FRN)/Paper License

**IMPORTANT**

To protect your Social Security Number and help prevent identity theft, the Federal Communications Commission will issue you a Federal Registration Number. You will have to have your FRN before registering for the exam. If you need help with the process, you can contact Keith, W6POC, at  w6poc@warrea.org. The number issued to you is good for life and for other FCC licenses. 

Save/put your User name and Password somewhere safe, you will need it again. 

To Obtain Your FRN (Federal Registration Number) Online

Go to the FCC website, click REGISTER, and follow their instructions. Follow Instructions.

You will receive your 10-digit FRN number immediately. Be sure to print it out and bring it with you for verification purposes.

The FCC has ceased issuing paper amateur licenses. The 'Official Record' of your license is the ULS listing on the FCC site.

Note: If you have a license, you have an FRN. Look it up in the ULS license search. If you don't know your password, click on forgot password and then select a security question. You may need to wait for an email from the FCC with a link to reset the password and select a security question.

Here is the procedure to obtain the "Official Copy"

1. Click on this link

2. Enter your FRN and password

3. Click Submit

4. Click on your Call Sign

5. Click on Download Electronic Authorizations on the left-hand menu

6. Your License will appear in the Filter by Radio Service Box

7. Click to highlight it

8. Click add

9. Click to highlight your license

10. Click the Download Button

11. Your “official copy” License will appear in a PDF

12. Print it.
