Study Guides

There are many ways to prepare for an amateur radio license exam. You can use an ARRL License Manual for the class of license that you would like to obtain. Generally, you would take the Technician Class License exam first. You can take more than one level of exam at our exam sessions and we always have all 3 levels of exams available.

For the Technician Class License, we suggest the ARRL Ham Radio License Manual 5th Edition (valid for exams given from July 1, 2022 thru June 30, 2026)

For the General Class License, we suggest the ARRL General Class License Manual 10th Edition

For the Extra Class License, we suggest the ARRL Extra Class License Manual 12th Edition (valid for exams given from July 1, 2020 thru June 30, 2024)

The ARRL offers Online Review and Practice Exams for all of their manuals.

These license manuals can be purchased locally at:

Redding Barnes & Noble Booksellers

1260 Churn Creek Road (the store will be moving to Hilltop Drive in the old Bed Bath & Beyond location late 2023)
